Understanding dreams was the first intuitive skill that opened up for me. I’ve been exploring my own and those of clients for over 30 years, always asking more questions about why we dream and what they represent. Here’s some of what I have learned:
When we sleep, the body goes on maintenance, shutting down the “human” parts for rest and repair and letting us return to the inner world of the spirit.
What we do there usually shows up in story form where we play most of the roles. The mind dialogues with the emotions; our past talks to our present; the future may reveal itself.
Think of a theater set up for a play – this is the dream setting. Bring in the characters – most of whom are our various selves (even attitudes and beliefs). The play is acted out in a way that gives us ENORMOUS information about ourselves.
Sometimes, when we get deeply into a session on dreams, more information about the client and their life comes out other than what was in the dream itself.
As an aside, earlier in my intuitive life, when I wanted to be able to do something else that was intuitive, I called out in frustration, “When will I be able to do something besides interpret dreams?” The answer that came back was, “When you are happy interpreting dreams.” Translation (which has helped me in other areas): have an attitude of gratitude about yourself and where you are right now in your life. It was the key to moving into other realms of intuition. (See my notes on stress defusion.)
